Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno have declared for the NFL draft.  Now, Matt and ‘Shon, PLEASE, I’m imploring both of you to hire an agent so you can officially become ineligible to return.

Why am I happy about this?  Is it because Joe’juh has beaten my Vols a bunch?  Surprisingly, no.  With either or both Stafford and Moreno as Dawgs, my Vols have only lost once to them, 26-14 this past season.  The previous two seasons were a 51-33 win (’06) and 35-14 win (’07).

I’m happy because I won’t have to listen to the constant adulation anymore from everybody including CBS, ESPN, Raycom/Lincold Financial/Jefferson Pilot Sports, etc.  Listening to the play-by-play and color guys, an audience would think these two were stealing Heisman votes from one another.  And, there is no doubt that Stafford will throw one ball every game immediately followed by a talking head saying something to the effect of “There’s no other quarterback in all of college football who could make a throw like that.  That type of throw can only be made by a pro.”  These talking head quips are usually followed up by commentary of my own where I say, “BLEEEEH! ” (that’s the sound of me vomiting).  These statements are also usually bookended by silence when Stafford over/underthrows his WR by 5 yards.

I don’t mind Moreno as much but he disappears too often in games to justify the constant love he gets.  Containing Moreno has not been a problem for the better teams Joe’juh has played so his praise is a bit over-the-top as well.

Thank goodness they’re leaving.  Now, if I could just get the entire Florida team to become ineligible…

Update on this morning’s TMA:  apparently Rick Reilly is the latest passenger on the “Utah should be champs” train.
