As many of you might have heard, Dan Shanoff, the person who’s own being eventually led to the creation of SpartyandFriends, wrote his final column/blog for The Sporting News yesterday. Now, Mr. Shanoff and this site had a rough falling out, but we don’t forget who we are and where we came from. Without his blog and alienation of the commenters that helped make his blog great, we wouldn’t be here right now.
As we have shown in the past, Sparty and Friends is always quick to react to potential free agent signings (see Spencer). Seeing this opportunity have put our collective heads together in deciding on whether to be the first to jump at Shanoff. The answer was unanimous.
Being the lone attorney around these parts, I was given the duty of drafting the offer letter. Unfortunately, it was in the wake of a trial loss for yours truly, so I was about three deep on turpentine and colas when I finally sat down to pen these bad boys. After writing a few samples, I couldn’t decide on any one, so I sent Mr. Shanoff all three. They are laid out below.
After drafting this letter, I thought it was a little too rough. I didn’t want to be responsible for the compromise of his person after leaving yet another job. Below is the second letter.
In the waking hours of the morning, I finally sobered up and drafted something a little more professional.
So Mr. Shanoff, your response?

There should have been a one hour live chat on this site for Spencer’s decision.

Trust us, we’re not competing with anyone.

If Dan comes back, I promise to bring back the fan favorite feature…
“Things Dan Was Wrong About Today”
You have to love explaining to Dan the difference between implosion and explosion or the difference between myth and legend.

Don’t think I’ve ever read anything of his stuff, so I’ll reserve judgement.
Not sure how he could turn down your tax-free job offer.

Awesome.
Please include verbiage stating that he is not allowed to comment on any of his own posts, to retain his journalistic integrity, or douchebaggery, depending on your POV.
‘Thing’s Dan Was Wrong About Today’ always had a plethora of material.
